PSHE

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) lessons are designed to equip children with knowledge to make informed decisions relating to their wellbeing, health and relationships in order to prepare them for a successful adult life.

At St. Mary’s lessons take place weekly and follow the ‘Jigsaw’ scheme. The Jigsaw curriculum is a comprehensive PSHE programme that follows a whole-school approach to learning, allowing all year groups to work within the same theme (puzzle) at the same time at their own level.

There are six puzzles, one taught each half term, with all lessons delivered in an age appropriate way so that they meet children’s needs:

  1. Being Me In My World
  2. Celebrating Difference
  3. Dreams and Goals
  4. Healthy Me
  5. Relationships
  6. Changing Me

Each half term, children will also be introduced to world issues through our ‘awareness week’. These include: Black History Month, Anti-bullying week, Children’s Mental Heath Week, Global Recycling Day and Diversity Day.
